Name: Niall Quinn

Nickname: Big Dave

Position: Midfield

Career: Big ‘Dave’ Quinn is the tallest player on the team at 6ft 4 and an overall solid unit at 20 stone. If we add in that he wears size 14 football boots it sounds like he would be more at home in Duffy’s Circus than the football field.
His own football career has been in nosedive since appearing for Armagh Minors in the early 2000s when he started to spend more time at the kitchen table and less time at the gym.
To give him credit he has been working hard on his fitness over the last few months and should bring some much-needed quality to the team.

Name: Paul Murchan

Nickname: Swanky

Position: Midfield/Defence

Career: Widely regarded (by himself at least) as the most naturally gifted player on the team, Paul will be expected to provide goals and assists throughout the tournament.
Rumour has it that, if not for injuries, he would have played across the water… although both of those claims are completely untrue. In reality, he’s just as questionable as the rest of the squad—but a key man nonetheless.

Name: Shane Phelan

Nickname: Corrinshego Butcher

Position: Defender

Career: Shane is the team’s resident enforcer—the nickname “Corrinshego Butcher” tells you everything you need to know. He has a reputation for crunching tackles, with an immediate apology as his opponent as they hits the ground.
Unfortunately, Shane was the victim of hard hitting tackle this year suffering a broken nose. He subsequently lost two of his modelling contracts with Gucci and Armani and may be seen wearing his protective face shield during the tournament.
Despite it all, Shane can run all day and even chips in with the odd (usually deflected) goal.

Name: Ryan Kelly

Nickname: None – but will be given one on the night out

Position: Anywhere

Career: Ryan at the tender age of 22 is a vital member of the team. One of the only players still playing competitive football with Camlough Rovers in the Mid Ulster League.
Ryan may struggle to fit in with his teammates as he has full head of hair and no beer belly. Expect Ryan to do about 90% of the running on the day. He’ll also link up with his dad Neil—and no doubt try to prove once and for all who the best footballer in the Kelly household really is.

Name: Neil Kelly

Nickname: Nelson

Position: Midfield/Centre Half

Career: Neil is one of the few players who can still boast a relatively recent playing career, having featured in Carnbane football up until last year. Impressively, he has even lined out alongside his son Ryan in recent seasons—and the duo will be back together again for this tournament.
Don’t be fooled by the bald head and ageing appearance —This FA Cup lookalike is younger and fitter than he appears. He can still run all day like he’s 21 and will be a key figure throughout the competition.

Name: Graham Johnston

Nickname: Sicknote

Position: Goalkeeper

Career: Graham has spent the past two years battling a catalogue of injuries, earning himself comparisons to Darren Anderton—famously known as “Sicknote.” Graham, is regularly seen visiting the local Chiropractor and Physiotherapists on an almost daily basis.

With Grahams ongoing mobility issues, he has been moved in between the sticks and if the injuries continue into next season it looks like a managerial type role will be his only option for next years tournament. This change in role should help reduce the ongoing medical bills which are higher than most people’s mortgages.

Name: Michael McParland

Nickname: Miguel

Position: Right Back/Bench Warmer/Mascot

Career: Michael is named after the former Valencia full-back Miguel, although the similarities in playing style remain unconfirmed. It is more likely, the nickname comes from his fondness for San Miguel while on holidays.

Michael is most effective off the ball and not the player we would like to see in the opposing box or on the pitch at all for that matter. He is one of the few players that can miss chance after chance from 6 yards and will likely be used sparingly throughout the tournament but that said, he’s guaranteed to be a key man for post-match celebrations.

Name: Aidan Quinn

Nickname: Milhouse

Position: Defence

Career: Once known for his attacking flair and eye for goal, Aidan has gradually transitioned into a more defensive role due to fitness issues. Now more regularly seen in Friar Tucks or departing the local boozer than on the football field.
As Niall’s brother, he’s often referred to as “the best of the Quinns”—both on the pitch and off it. A dependable squad member with good footballing intelligence.

05/06/2026

Name: Sean Murchan

Nickname: Smurky

Position: Winger (with no pace)/Bench Warmer

Career: Sean is, by some distance, the oldest member of the squad. Rumour has it his 5-a-side career began shortly after World War II, with appearances alongside legends like Stanley Matthews. Its yet to be confirmed if we can get him on day release from the local nursing home but discussions are ongoing.
He still plays football once or twice a week and fancies himself as a tricky winger. Unfortunately, Sean is a lot less talented than his brother Paul and more likely to be wheeled on in a few games as an impact sub. Walking football may be next on the agenda.

05/06/2026

Name: Paul Kelly

Nickname: Weeman

Position: Right Wing/Striker

Career: Paul was once a highly effective right winger in the Carnbane League. Nicknamed “Weeman” due to his lack of height as a teenager, he eventually levelled out with the rest of his peers.

Now in the twilight of his career, those marauding runs down the wing are a distant memory. A diet of takeaways and Guinness has seen him “fill out,” and he’s more fondly known as “Medium.” While the pace may be gone, Paul remains a valuable presence—especially vocally, as teammates will quickly discover.
