A farmer is encouraging fellow landowners to get their off-road vehicles and machinery tagged with trackers after police swiftly recovered his buggy on Monday morning (7 September).

A Kawazaki Mule was stolen from a farm in Ledbury around 4.20am but thanks to it being fitted with a tracking device it was quickly located 30 minutes later near Poolbrook Road in Malvern.

Officers used the buggy’s tracker to find it, and it has now been returned to its rightful owner. Enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

Rural and Business Crime Officer John Meek said: “This quick recovery of the buggy shows the importance of attaching a tracking device to rural vehicles.

“The farmer has his vehicle back already, was grateful to have taken our advice to fit it and wants to encourage other farmers and landowners to do the same to protect their vehicles.”

🐶 PD “Bella” and Oscar Kilo 9 wellbeing and trauma support dog “Gunner” brought a welcome lift to Malvern Response and Safer Neighbourhood Team yesterday afternoon.

🐕 Their visit was full of wagging tails, calm reassurance, and plenty of smiles from officers who always appreciate the wellbeing support these dogs provide.

🐾 Both Bella and Gunner were on top form, offering a perfect mix of professionalism and charm - reminding us how valuable their presence is across the force.

🙌 A big thank you to them (and their handler) for brightening the day.

Man jailed two days after caught shoplifting in Malvern

A man has been handed a 24-week custodial sentence after he was caught stealing items from Waitrose on Sunday (6 September).

Declan Wharton, who was already serving a suspended sentence, stole high value meat from the supermarket earlier this week and was caught by officers less than an hour after the offence had taken place.

The 33-year-old was arrested, charged the following day (Monday), and then sentenced at court to 24 weeks in prison.

As Wharton, of no fixed abode, was on a suspended sentence he was handed an immediate jail term.

CHARGED | A man has been charged with eight counts of theft from shop relating to incidents in Upton and is due to appear in court today (Monday 7 September).

Ashley Firth, 34, of no fixed abode, was charged on Saturday and remanded to appear before Kidderminster Magistrates Court today for a hearing.

Yesterday, officers from the Kempsey & Alfrick Safer Neighbourhood Team had a fantastic day attending Alfrick and Lulsley Show and Fete

It was great to meet so many local residents, discuss community concerns, offer crime prevention advice, and strengthen relationships within our rural communities. We would like to thank everyone who stopped by to say hello and chat with us.

We were especially pleased to see so many children visiting our stand, with many enjoying the opportunity to try on police uniform and equipment and experience what it might be like to be a police officer for the day! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

🚨 Burglary Arrest Following Shop Break-In, Upton-upon-Severn 🚨

In the early hours of this morning, (Saturday 5th September 2026), officers from Malvern Response Team (C Shift) and a Police Dog Unit responded to a report of a burglary at a shop on High Street, Upton-upon-Severn.

Following a prompt response and search of the area, a 34-year-old man was located nearby and arrested on suspicion of burglary. Property believed to have been stolen during the incident was also recovered nearby.

The male was additionally wanted in connection with a number of shop theft offences and remains in police custody awaiting interview.

This arrest highlights the value of timely reporting and the coordinated efforts of response officers and specialist resources in bringing offenders to justice.
