As someone who works in holistic therapy and cares deeply about emotional wellbeing, I’m really pleased to see stronger boundaries being introduced around social media use for under 16s.
Childhood and adolescence are such important stages for developing confidence, self-worth, emotional resilience and real-world connection. Constant exposure to comparison, pressure, overstimulation and online validation can make that much harder.
This isn’t about rejecting technology — it’s about creating more space for rest, presence, creativity, movement, family connection and simply being young.
Protecting mental and emotional wellbeing early gives young people a stronger foundation for later life, and I welcome conversations that encourage healthier relationships with screens and social media.
