Today marks 10 years of me being self employed. 10. Whole. Years.
Wow. I remember being scared of taking that leap to being self employed. I needn’t have worried.
In the last ten years I’ve achieved so much more than I thought I could. I don’t mean monetary. I’m talking all the things money can’t buy.
I’ve had two children in that time and worked flexibly around them. At my choice. At the right level to maintain an income and a life balance.
I’ve been able to travel round south east Asia for ten weeks with my family before our eldest started primary school.
I’ve been lucky to visit Australia for five weeks at a time and still work if I want to.
I’ve built a career that means I can pick my children up from school every day. I can choose to go on every walk they do. Every school trip. I can be there when they’re poorly. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t always do them, but I always have that choice 🤣
It’s given me the flexibility to come home from tricky school drop offs, and allow myself time for a cuppa and to breathe. It’s allowed me to give time and focus in other areas that are important to me.
Right now that’s something money just can’t buy.
Does it mean sometimes I work early mornings or late at night? Yes. But that’s my choice.
It also wouldn’t be possible without the amazing team at Mortgage 1st backing me up with each and every client.
10 years.
I’m proud of little old me. Less of the old actually.
And I’m thankful. To everyone who has supported me. Recommended me. Trusted in me, had faith in me.
I’m thankful to Jon and Lisa, who pretty much leave me be but are always there for me if I need them. Mainly it’s to talk crime programmes these days as I just crack on.
Thanks guys and thanks team.
