During National Racehorse week we must give a shout out to Manor House Stables - we are incredibly proud to be their insurance partner. Our relationship has grown over the years, and we now insure cover their horses, employees, facilities and travel when racing.

We love taking our clients to visit Manor House Stables as Michael Owen and his team have created one of the UK's most impressive racing operations. It's a world‑class training yard combining elite facilities, top‑tier horses, and the expertise of winning trainer Hugo Palmer. Why does your horsebox need specialist insurance?

🐎Horseboxes are heavily modified vehicles carrying live animals and that changes everything about the risks and the type of cover you need - it's not a standard van
🐎Structural changes and modification to convert a van to a horsebox mean standard van insurance won’t recognise the vehicle’s true value
🐎Transporting horses introduces risks that normal motor insurance doesn’t cover
🐎Standard breakdown recovery isn't good enough, you need a recovery service arranged with experts who will recover your horses, you and not just your horsebox

Good luck to all those taking running in the pantomime Horse Race today for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd at Chester Racecourse.

We loved it when we took part - it's harder than you think but great fun and we won - well not the race but top fundraiser! We were proud to help raise funds for such a worthwhile cause. The Hospice of the Good Shepherd provides invaluable, compassionate specialist palliative care across Chester, West Cheshire, South Wirral and Deeside.

Many of us will be packing our cases soon for a well-earned holiday but along with the sun cream please don't forget your insurance. Hopefully you will never need it but there are more and more stories of people left stranded due to no insurance in place, or they weren't covered for what they needed.

Here's our top tips

🗺️Arrange your travel insurance as soon as you book, if you're planning multiple trips an annual policy may be better for you

🏖️Extended holiday? If you are away for over 30 days and your home is empty it’s likely your house insurance cover may be reduced or extra terms applied. Check your policy for your unoccupancy details

✈️Check what's covered and not in your travel insurance

🧑‍⚕️Ensure you've declared all medical conditions

💍Review any high value items you will take with you - jewellery, tech etc to ensure they are covered on your travel policy or away from home.
