We looked at some of the most commonly searched mortgage questions online in 2026 and noticed something interesting…

Many of them are very similar to the questions people ask in everyday mortgage conversations.

Here’s one that comes up time and time again at the moment:
“Can someone get a mortgage with a poor credit history?”

Some lenders may consider applications from people with:
• Missed payments
• Defaults
• Lower credit scores

Lending decisions often depend on factors such as:
• How recent the credit issue was
• Current financial circumstances
• Deposit size
• Overall affordability

Different lenders apply different lending criteria.
Your property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

UK inflation rose to 3.5% in September, up from 3.1% in August, according to the latest Consumer Prices Index figures from the Office for National Statistics.
Transport costs, particularly petrol and diesel, made the largest upward contribution to the increase in the annual inflation rate.

Rising prices put pressure on household budgets and reduce the purchasing power of money. Inflation can also influence borrowing costs, savings rates and investment markets.

The latest figure remains above the Bank of England’s 2% target. Inflation is one of several factors the Bank considers when setting interest rates, alongside wages, employment and economic growth.

The announcement does not automatically mean a change in Bank Rate or mortgage rates, but it remains an important part of the wider economic picture.

We recently reviewed some of the most commonly searched mortgage-related questions online this year.
Many reflected the same themes that often come up in general mortgage conversations.

One example that we have had this week is:
“How are monthly mortgage payments calculated?”

Monthly mortgage payments are usually influenced by:
• Property value
• Deposit size
• Interest rate
• Mortgage term length

Changes to any of these factors may affect monthly costs.
Payment amounts will vary depending on lender criteria and individual borrowing arrangements.

Your property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
