The rate decision may be the headline, but it isn’t the whole story. 📰
Buyers have spent a long time watching interest rates and waiting for the “right” signal. But a housing decision involves much more than the Bank of Canada’s latest announcement.
Affordability matters. Monthly payments matter. Housing supply matters. And so does how comfortable buyers feel making a decision.
A market can start to shift before there’s a major change in rates. Hesitation can ease, and buyers can begin to feel more comfortable making a move.
The takeaway? Don’t judge the direction of the housing market by one number. Rates matter, but understanding the bigger picture means looking at affordability, buyer behaviour and market activity together.
