Join our September Thriving Non-Profits community learning event with Leigh Sandison , from Real Path, as we explore best practices for and growing your supporter base.

Join our September community learning event with Leigh Sandison, founder of Real Path, for a practical session on creating meaningful, high-impact supporter experiences.

Strong supporter relationships go beyond individual transactions. This session will explore how non-profit teams can challenge assumptions, ask more effective questions, and embed a truly supporter-centric approach that strengthens connection, retention, and long-term value. Drawing on real examples from organizations big and small, Leigh will share how these skills can help transform everyday donor interactions into lasting supporter relationships.

There is a lot of hard news right now. Wildfires continue to affect communities across Canada, while people around the world are navigating conflict, uncertainty, and loss. Against that backdrop, we were grateful to make some time simply to be together as the Scale team.

A shared meal, good conversation, plenty of laughter, and the chance to connect outside of the work. It does not change what is happening around us, but connection matters. Our work is rooted in strengthening organizations, communities, and the social impact sector, and none of that happens without people coming together, supporting one another, and building relationships.

We are very lucky to have this thoughtful, committed group of humans doing the work alongside us. ๐Ÿ’š

Hereโ€™s to making space for connection, especially when the world feels heavy.

We're excited to introduce the inaugural Governance Committee for Impact Guarantee, a national, sector-led initiative designed to strengthen Canada's social finance ecosystem through a shared loan guarantee program.

This exceptional group brings deep expertise in impact investing, community finance, philanthropy, governance, sustainable finance, and social innovation. Together, they'll provide strategic oversight as we work to unlock more capital for underserved communities and help social finance intermediaries grow their impact.

A sincere thank you to our Governance Committee members Adwoa K. Buahene, Christian Novak, Darryl Brown, Elena Yugai, Kalen Taylor, and Steve Cu***ng for sharing your leadership, experience, and commitment to building Canada's social finance ecosystem.

We also extend our gratitude to Boann, Definity Foundation , and the Ontario Trillium Foundation for supporting this work. Your investment and belief have been instrumental in bringing Impact Guarantee from concept to reality.

We're proud to see the launch of this new Access to Capital for Non-Profits and Charities course through Thriving Non-Profits. Over the past decade, we've worked with hundreds of non-profits across Canada that have identified opportunities to grow their impact, but lacked the knowledge, confidence, or support to understand whether financing was the right path forward. By strengthening leaders' understanding of capital and investment readiness, this course helps more organizations move from ideas to action.

Congratulations to the Thriving Non-Profits team, and thank you to Boann, Definity Foundation, and Vancity for the support to make this valuable learning opportunity available to more organizations.

What could your organization achieve with the right capital? Our new Access to Capital for Non-Profits and Charities course, developed in partnership with Boann, Definity Foundation, and Vancity, helps non-profit leaders understand when financing makes sense, what type of capital fits different opportunities, and how to prepare their organizations to access and manage it responsibly.

Every day, non-profits identify opportunities to create greater impact. Expanding a successful program. Purchasing a building. Launching or growing a social enterprise. Investing in equipment or technology. Managing cash flow while waiting for confirmed funding.

These opportunities often require investment before they generate returns. Understanding the capital continuum, financing options, repayment capacity, and lender expectations helps organizations make informed decisions about how those opportunities can be financed as part of a stronger financial mix.

Through four practical, self-paced modules, the course explores how financing works, how lenders assess organizations, and how to build the confidence to access and manage capital responsibly as your organization grows.
