was a vibe! Affirm and TechToronto's Fintech Market Overview and the Deloitte Ventures Reverse Pitch were just two of the standout events that Peloton's Senior Director of Corporate Development, Fin Flemington, soaked in.

What was top-of-mind?

- Canada's conservative banking system is both the friction and the foundation. The firms that build around it smartly will have a real edge.
- AI capability in finance is extremely high but it isn't being used well (yet).
- Finance needs guardrails and systems built to AI spec like software. These things exist today but they are done by humans vs software.

It's a little bit like having self-driving capability. Most people are still driving manually with advanced cruise control. The road rules exist, but they’re not embedded into the car’s operating system yet. Clearly, lots more to come for the future of finance.

Thanks Toronto Tech Week for an energy-infused week of big events and even bigger ideas. See you next year! 👋

Fraud Prevention Month may be over, but unfortunately, fraud doesn't take a break.

Half of Canadian small businesses have been hit by fraud.

We put together a quick checklist covering the three payment fraud threats that catch businesses off guard most often: card-not-present fraud, payment redirection, and chargebacks.

Save this and share it with your team.

Meet Jordyn Crema, Client Success and Support Specialist at Peloton Technologies.

Jordyn loves that no two days look the same in her role, and she'd describe the team in one word: respectful. When she's not keeping clients happy, you'll find her working to a video game or movie soundtrack.

We're lucky to have her on the team.

We are wrapping up an exciting few days at The Payments Canada SUMMIT and an evening at the Fintechs Canada event.

The defining theme: convergence. The infrastructure, policy frameworks, and payment rails the industry has been building toward are finally coming together — but realizing their full value requires collaboration across the entire ecosystem.

We were proud to have our Executive Chair of the Board, John MacKinlay, joined by Sheila Vokey (Central 1), Julien Brazeau (Finance Canada / Finances Canada), Al-Karim Kara (Land Title and Survey Authority of British Columbia), and Simona Salter (Scotiabank) on stage to explore what's next for Canada across RTR, open banking, payment initiation, stablecoins, and agentic commerce.

Thank you to Payments Canada and Fintechs Canada for bringing the community together! 🙌

Half of Canadian small businesses experienced some form of fraud in the past year. And it’s a big deal - they lost an average of $7,800 each.

To wrap up , our Information Security Manager Jon Pavelich breaks down the three payments fraud threats hitting small businesses hardest right now:

⚠️ Card-not-present fraud
⚠️ Payment redirection and account takeover scams
⚠️ Chargebacks and friendly fraud.

The good news: Businesses can prepare and reduce the impact of fraud on their business.

Ever wondered how you can pay a supplier invoice with a credit card even when they don't accept cards?

Here's how it actually works 👇

1️⃣ You upload the invoice to a bill pay platform
2️⃣ You pay by credit card (hello, rewards points & cash flow flexibility)
3️⃣ The platform converts that payment into a bank transfer or cheque
4️⃣ Your supplier receives funds exactly as they normally would

For Canadian SMBs still relying on manual payments and cheques, this is a game-changer.

We break down the full process in our latest blog: https://peloton-technologies.com/how-credit-card-enabled-bill-pay-actually-works/
