Back-to-school season can feel really different after divorce.

While everyone else is talking about school supplies, lunch boxes, and first-day photos, you might be carrying a whole different set of emotions.

Maybe this is the first year your child will split time between two homes.

Maybe you're figuring out a new parenting schedule.

Maybe you're wondering how you're going to manage it all financially.

Or maybe you're grieving the fact that this isn't the back-to-school season you imagined for your family.

If this is your first back-to-school season after separation, here are a few reminders:

🤍 Your children don't need everything to be perfect: they need to feel safe, loved, and supported.

🤍 Keep communication simple and child-focused. Clear plans help reduce stress for everyone.

🤍 Try not to compare your household to your co-parent's. Focus on creating consistency and connection in your own home.

🤍 Make sure the school knows there have been changes at home and to let you know about any changes in behaviour at school

🤍 Give yourself grace. You're adjusting too, and it's okay if this season feels emotional.

Divorce changes the way your family looks, but it doesn't change your ability to be an incredible parent.

One school drop-off, one homework night, one day at a time. 🤍

Here's a little challenge for you this weekend...

Take yourself on a date. ☀️

This is your reminder that you don't need to wait for someone else to make plans. You can create moments of joy for yourself.

Try a new café.
Take a walk by the ocean.
Hit your favourite trail.
Explore a local market.

Not because you have to.

Simply because you're worthy of your own time and attention.

You might be surprised by how good it feels to slow down, enjoy your own company, and do something just because it makes you happy.

The relationship you're rebuilding right now isn't just with the world around you, it's with yourself.

And that's one of the most important ones you'll ever invest in. 🤍
