QUIC is pleased to partner with Imperial Capital for the Private Equity Case Competition, open to 1st- and 2nd-year students at Queen’s University. This competition provides an opportunity to engage in a real-world private equity deal process.
Competition Overview
• Teams (1-4 members) will select an industry from two teaser-style overviews.
• Access a with industry insights, company details, and financials.
• Develop an investment thesis and recommendation based on analysis.
• Top three teams will present to Imperial’s Investment Committee (panel of Imperial representatives) in the final round.

Prizes
• Winning team secures an interview for Imperial Capital’s Summer 2026 internship.
• Dinner at Tango Nuevo with Imperial Capital representatives.

Teams will receive a templated financial model and presentation outline to guide their analysis. Submissions will be evaluated based on investment rationale and strategic thought process.

The Western Investment Club (“WIC”) and Queen’s University Investment Counsel (“QUIC”) are excited to partner for the 4th annual Intercollegiate Hedge Fund Conference. This conference is the result of a strong and continued partnership between WIC and QUIC, and the shared goal to increase student interest in public markets investing at the undergraduate level.

This year’s conference will be held virtually over Zoom on March 25th, 2025. The conference is two-part — it will include a Q&A panel event, followed by an intercollegiate stock pitch competition. The panelists and competition judges will be joining us from esteemed hedge funds.

The panel will run from 6:00pm to 6:45pm EST and will provide an opportunity to hear about investment strategies and career progression from hedge fund professionals. Following the panel, the pitch competition final round judging will run from 6:45pm to 8:00pm EST, with finalists competing to win from a prize pool of $4,000. All students are invited to watch the final presentations.

Thank you to RBC who hosted our 7th annual QUIC x RBC Stock Pitch Competition in Toronto last week. We are very thankful to the RBC team and Peter Copestake (Chairman, QUIC Board of Directors) for their continued support. Congratulations to Evelyn Lee for placing 1st, David You for placing 2nd, and Anuhesh Sivarupan for placing 3rd.

QUIC will be hosting a March Hiring Info Session on March 3rd at 5:30pm EST in Goodes 108. We’ll be tracking attendance through the Google Form in our bio. This info session will include additional information about March Hiring, a junior speaker panel with Michelle Chou (Comm 24’) and a senior speaker panel with Josh Wine (QUIC 17’), and an in-person networking session with Counsel members following the session.

QUIC is Canada’s premier student-run asset management organization managing $3.2M in AUM on behalf of the Queen’s University Endowment and Mackenzie Investments. We are currently in the process of hiring new members for the coming year. We will be hiring Analysts from COMM ‘27 and COMM ’28 and Senior Portfolio Managers from COMM ‘26. We are seeking candidates who are well-rounded, driven, and have a genuine interest in developing their financial knowledge and skill set. Prior finance experience is not necessary; however, some understanding of financial concepts and market news is expected. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.

The process will consist of a written application and two rounds of interviews. All candidates will participate in a first-round interview, which will be followed by a second-round interview for selected candidates.

Congratulations to Joseph Xie (QUIC ‘25) who received one of three Undergraduate Finance & Economics Scholarship Awards from the CFA Society Toronto. This marks the 21st time a QUIC member has received this honour in the award’s 17-year history.

We are excited to announce our fourth annual March Hiring Insights session, hosted by QUIC and CREO! This event is a great opportunity for Queen’s students in the classes of 2026, 2027, and 2028 to gain key insights into the March Hiring cycle. Attendees will learn best practices for navigating the process while also getting an introduction to the worlds of finance and consulting.
