📊 Tax season shouldn't be the first time you look at your financials.

Your numbers have something to tell you all year long.

They can tell you:
✔️ Whether you're actually making a profit.
✔️ If your pricing needs adjusting.
✔️ Where your cash is going.
✔️ Whether it's time to hire, invest, or cut back.

When your bookkeeping is up to date, tax season becomes the last step—not the first time you're finding out how your business is doing.

I help business owners stay on top of their books year-round, so they can make confident decisions instead of last-minute guesses.

📚 I’m currently reading How to Be a Rich Old Lady by Amanda Holden, and I’m really enjoying it.

If you’re anything like me, maybe you got a later start on saving for retirement than you would have liked. That can make investing feel overwhelming—as though everyone else knows some secret that you somehow missed.

The truth is, most of us were never taught this stuff. We learned how to write essays and solve algebra problems in school, but very few of us learned how to invest, plan for retirement, or make our money work for us.

That’s what I like about this book. Yes, it’s written with an American audience in mind, so some of the accounts and tax examples are different from what we have here in Canada. But the principles are the same.

It reminds you that investing isn’t reserved for financial experts. It’s simply another skill that can be learned—one step at a time. The more you understand, the less intimidating it becomes.

If you’re Canadian, you’ll need to translate a few of the U.S.-specific details to RRSPs, TFSAs, and our own tax rules, but don’t let that stop you. The mindset and lessons are just as valuable.

If you’ve been putting off learning about investing because it feels too complicated, this might be a great place to start. 💚📖

Have you read a book that changed the way you think about money? I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Are you sure you aren't losing these?

How many receipts are currently sitting in your vehicle?

Or your wallet?

Or stuffed into a random drawer?

You're definitely not the only one.

The problem isn't that they're crumpled—it's that when receipts pile up, they're much easier to lose, forget, or overlook. By year-end, that can mean missed business expenses, extra stress, and hours spent trying to piece everything together.

The good news? You don't need a complicated filing system.

One of my favourite parts of working with clients is helping them replace the "receipt pile" with a simple system they can actually keep up with.

Bookkeeping doesn't have to feel overwhelming—it just needs the right process. If you're not sure where to start, we would be happy to help you build a system that's organized, practical, and works for your business.

I read something today that made me stop and smile.

💚 Between 2018 and 2023, global wealth increased by 43%... but women's share of that wealth increased by 50%.

As a bookkeeper who works with small business owners every day, that feels exciting.

I get to watch women build businesses from kitchen tables, coffee shops, spare bedrooms, and storefronts. They wear all the hats, take the risks, solve the problems, and keep showing up.

I love helping business owners feel more confident with their finances. I believe bookkeeping is about more than recording transactions. It's about helping business owners understand the story their numbers are telling—where the money is coming from, where it's going, and what needs attention—so they can make confident decisions and build a stronger, more profitable business.

To all the women building something of your own: keep going. The world is noticing. 💚

💰 Your bank balance doesn't tell the whole story.

One of the most common mistakes I see is business owners checking their bank account to see "how the business is doing."

The problem?

Your bank balance doesn't tell you:
• How much HST you've collected (and owe to CRA)
• Whether you've made a profit this month
• How much your customers still owe you
• What bills are coming due next week

A healthy bank account can hide an unprofitable business.
A low bank account can happen even when your business is doing well.

That's why good bookkeeping isn't just about tax time—it's about understanding what's really happening in your business so you can make confident decisions.

📊 Know your numbers. Your future self will thank you.

📊 Feeling behind on your bookkeeping?

You're not alone.

Many small business owners start out doing everything themselves—and for a while, that works. But as your business grows, it gets harder to keep up with invoices, receipts, HST, payroll, and month-end reporting while also serving customers and running the business.

If you're wondering:
• Am I making money?
• Why is there never as much cash in the bank as I expected?
• Am I setting enough aside for taxes?
• Am I behind on my bookkeeping?

Let's talk.

At Limestone Ledgers, we help business owners get organized, understand their numbers, and feel more confident about the financial side of their business.

No judgment. No accounting jargon. Just practical support and clear information so you can focus on running your business.
