Effective estate planning means understanding how to distribute corporate assets tax-efficiently.

In the latest issue of DFK Canada’s tax newsletter, Ashna Pahwa, CPA, Tax Manager at FK LLP, explores how reducing paid-up capital before a share redemption may help business owners access their corporation’s capital dividend account. The article examines a recent CRA ruling and its implications for estate planning, managing corporate-owned life insurance, preparing for shareholder transitions, and structuring share redemptions.
