A day in the life of an insurance agent is basically asking a lot of questions. 😂

It can feel like a lot, but there’s a reason behind every one.

The more we understand about your life, your family, your home, your business and your goals, the better we can make sure your insurance actually fits you and what you’re trying to protect.

Because insurance is not just about putting a policy in place. It’s about helping you prepare for the unexpected and giving you peace of mind knowing you have the right protection behind you when you need it.

Whatever you need coverage for, our team is here to help you understand your options and make sure it makes sense for your life.

Have questions or need to review your coverage? Reach out to us. We’d love to help.

Did I make this summer special enough for them?

I can’t be the only mom who feels like summer comes with a little bit of pressure.

Pressure to make the most of it. To plan the fun things. To create the memories. To somehow make these few short months count.

As September rolled in, I found myself wondering if we did enough… then I put this recap together and realized I was focusing on what we didn’t do instead of what we did.

We had some really special moments. We watched our daughter take huge strides with her swimming and biking, squeezed in some fun and made memories I know we’ll look back on fondly.

Was it the picture-perfect summer I imagined? No.

Was it ours? Absolutely.

Maybe that’s the reminder I needed going into September: we’re often so hard on ourselves for what we didn’t do that we forget to appreciate everything we actually did.

So I’m taking the next few days to recharge, soak up the last bit of summer and get our family ready for what’s ahead.

Because maybe a good summer isn’t measured by how much you fit in.

Maybe it’s measured by how much you were there for it. 🤍

Six months back on social media. ❤️

And first, a shoutout to my mom and her friends, who make sure I never have to wonder if anyone is actually watching. 😂

Coming back to social media, I wanted this space to be more than just another place to talk about insurance.

The topics we share are important. There are so many things people don’t know about their coverage, questions they don’t realize they should be asking, and conversations that are much easier to have before you actually need the insurance.

But I’ve also really loved sharing more of the team, business, motherhood, community, and all the real life in between.

Six months in, I hope you’ve learned something, laughed with us, and maybe even felt a little more comfortable asking questions about insurance along the way.

What do you want to see more of here? Insurance tips, business, mom life, behind the scenes, client stories, or something else?

This is a question I think more people should be asking.

I recently had a conversation with a client who consistently maxes out their TFSA and RRSP, but was still wondering, “What else should I be doing?”

And there isn’t one answer that makes sense for everyone.

Your income, family, business, long term goals and what you’re trying to protect all matter. But depending on your situation, certain permanent life insurance strategies can offer another tax efficient way to build value over time while also putting protection in place.

Sometimes the next step is simply knowing there are other options worth exploring.

If you’re in a similar position and wondering what else may make sense for you and your family, reach out. Let’s have the conversation.

One thing I love about community events?

They remind you that nobody builds something great alone.

Ribfest takes teams, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, performers, competitors and so many people behind the scenes to make one weekend happen.

Judging the ribs made me appreciate this in a different way too. Something that looks simple on the surface takes preparation, patience, practice and a whole lot of attention to the details.

Business is no different.

As a mom and business owner, I’m learning that what people see is only a small part of what it takes to make something work. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and a lot of people who make the end result possible.

This weekend, I got to see that from a few different angles: judging, getting on stage to introduce some incredible performers, and representing Desjardins as the presenting sponsor.

And honestly, that’s what community is about.

Showing up, contributing what you can, and recognizing that the best things are rarely built by one person.
Grateful to be part of it. ❤️

Funny enough, I really am living the dream…

Growing up, I definitely wasn’t dreaming about reviewing insurance policies, asking when someone’s roof was replaced, or talking about water damage. 😂

But I was watching my mom.

I watched how hard she worked, how much she cared about her clients, and the relationships she built over the years. I didn’t realize it then, but she was showing me what this career could really mean.

Now I get to run my own insurance agency, help people prepare for the unexpected, and protect the lives they’ve worked so hard to build.

Little me probably didn’t picture insurance, but I think she’d be pretty proud of where we ended up. ❤️

Growing up, what did you imagine your life would look like?

A lot of people rent out their cottages through the seasons.

What they don’t always realize is that changing how you use the property can also change the insurance conversation.

A cottage that’s just for you and your family is different from one that’s being rented to guests. That’s why it’s important to let your insurance team know before you start renting it out, so your policy actually reflects how the property is being used.

The same idea applies if your home or cottage becomes vacant, you start running a business from it, or anything else changes about how you use the space.

If something has changed, don’t assume your existing policy still fits the same way.

A few home insurance decisions I would think twice about. 👀

Your home changes over time, and your coverage should be reviewed along with it.

Planning a renovation? That conversation should happen before the work begins, not once it’s finished. Your home ages, rebuild costs change, and updates to things like your roof, plumbing, water heater, pool or other features can affect your insurance.

And when it comes to water damage coverage, saving a little on your premium today could leave you facing a much bigger expense later.

This is why I always encourage clients to ask questions and review their coverage regularly. Insurance isn’t just about what’s required. It’s about understanding what you’re protecting and having the peace of mind that your coverage reflects your life today.

When was the last time you reviewed your home insurance? If it’s been a while, send me a DM or give our team a call.

On September 10, a few of us from the community are competing in a lip sync battle in support of Victim Services of York Region.

They do incredible work supporting people and families through some of the hardest moments of their lives, and their su***de bereavement support is something that feels especially meaningful to me in this moment.

There will be dancing, rehearsals and probably a few laughs along the way, but there’s a much bigger reason behind it.

And we want to make it even easier to help.

For every like on this reel, Gowda-Singh Insurance will donate $1 to the cause, and for every share or repost, we’ll donate $5. ❤️

If you’d also like to make a donation directly, the link is in my bio.

Like it, share it, pass it along. Let’s see how much we can raise together.
