Are you a business owner who only talks to your accountant at tax time?

We get it. The cost of regular check-ins with your advisors can start adding up real quick. But what's the cost of NOT getting ongoing advice? We'd argue that you're missing out on a lot by only talking about your business finances once a year.

Putting aside time to regularly chat about the money stuff means you've got a lot more visibility of what's going on, and a lot more time to course-correct if you need to.

Are you wishing you had an accountant who wants to speak to you more than once a year? Good news! We're currently taking new small business clients. Reach out via the link in our bio to see if we're the right team to help your business.

Had a very fun meeting today at the office with a client talking through whether it was the right time to take their business full time.

This is a conversation we’ve been having quite a bit lately, and it’s something we love to help with.

Normally there’s a bit of hesitation when someone is at the point of moving to full-time self employment. There is a level of anxiety that comes with removing the steady and consistent income that employment brings, which is completely normal.

In our session today we talked about what the business could look like if the client went full-time, and the outcome of that conversation was that the client could replace their current salary fairly easily without compromising their current lifestyle and job flexibility. It was a great outcome and the client was happy that going full time in the biz was a genuine option.

Sometimes you just need someone to give you permission to do the scary thing. And we’re here to do just that.

Have you been wondering what your income could look like if you took your biz full time? We’d love to show you.

June photo dump + celebrating 5 years of Valkyrie! 🥳

June was massive for us. Our biggest month this year both in face to face meetings, revenue, and hours worked, announcing our merger with Soph, welcoming two new team members, our first annual EOFY team day, lots of tax planning and EOFY convos, and onboarding a lot of new clients coming into the 2027 financial year.

We also celebrated our 5th birthday as a team of 5. How cool is that?!

Here’s what we got up to:

🌻 Team photos and celebrating a new financial year with new team members
🌻 One of about a million caffeinated beverages while doing EOFY meetings with clients
🌻 Chilly evenings with fire pits and Ollie dogs
🌻 Documenting a rare occasion that Soph and I were in the office at the same time
🌻 Custom Valkyrie cookies for our 5th birthday!
🌻 Packing goodie bags for the team
🌻 New team photos because it’s not just me anymore
🌻 Reflecting on how far we’ve come in such a short amount of time.

2026 was honestly the best and the hardest year in business yet. Lots of lessons learned, and lots of goals achieved.

We’re locked in for 2027, and we can’t wait to share what we get up to with you!

Thanks for being here.

Lots of coffees and chats happening for us this week as we approach EOFY, and a lot of the convos have highlighted the importance of looking after your mental heath as a business owner.

We love it when our clients are real with us about how they’re feeling, so we’re bringing the convo to socials.

Running a small business is a rollercoaster, and this season of business for a lot of people hasn’t been smooth sailing. Rising costs, economic uncertainty, and slower consumer spending has meant that a lot of business owners are feeling a bit flat.

While it is normal in business to have huge highs, there’s also sometimes periods of very low lows. When this happens, it’s so important to put your hand up and say that you’re not having a good time.

If you’re experiencing a not so great season right now; there’s services available for business owners who need them:
🌻NewAcces by Beyond Blue - 6 free confidential mental health coaching programs for business owners via phone or video
🌻 Small Business Debt Helpline - confidential advice is available if you’re struggling with debt - call 1800 413 828
🌻 Emergency and Crisis Support - call Lifeline on 13 11 14
🌻 Visit your GP and get a mental health treatment plan - Medicare subsidises up to 10 therapy sessions a year.

Remember, just because being in business is hard sometimes, doesn’t mean you need to struggle through it in your own! Here’s your reminder before we kick off the new financial year that you’re allowed to ask for help when you need it.

We’re also here to support you if you’re needing some help understanding your numbers, need a hand outsourcing some financial tasks that are causing you stress, just need a financial reset, or need to put an exit strategy in place for you to get out of your business.

Look after yourselves, and remember social media is a highlight reel, not the full story 🧡
