Interest rates have risen again. What does this mean for you?
The Reserve Bank of Australia has today increased the official cash rate by 0.25 percentage points to 4.85%.
Whether you already have a home loan or you're planning to buy, here are a few things worth considering.
🔑Already have pre-approval?
Higher interest rates can affect how much you're able to borrow. Before making an offer on a property, check in with your bank or broker to confirm your borrowing capacity hasn't changed.
🔒 Considering fixing your interest rate?
There are pros and cons to fixed and variable rates, and you don't necessarily have to choose one or the other. Fixing a portion of your loan could be an option too. A broker can help you understand the differences and decide what might suit your circumstances.
💸 Worried about your repayments?
If you're concerned about meeting your repayments, speak with your lender early about what assistance may be available. You can also ask whether they can offer you a lower interest rate, or speak with a broker to explore whether there are more competitive options elsewhere.
🙏 Hoping to buy soon?
Changes to interest rates can affect your borrowing power, the repayments you can comfortably afford and potentially how much you'll need to save. Wondering what this means for your plans to buy? Reach out to our brokers for a chat and find out what might be possible for you.
