Nothing gives me more satisfaction than delivering an outstanding result for a vendor. Putting free market forces to work using AP Groups industry leading sales platform and protecting our client from interference from corporate brands who don’t care about the individual owners when time comes, and they want to sell their pharmacy.

It was wonderful working with Rami & Ahmed who took the risk and established this pharmacy from a greenfield site in June 2018. Seven years of hard work serving the growing Ripley communities was rewarded when Rami and managing partner Ahmed were happy to sell and move onto new projects. We wish them both continued success in future endeavours.

Ripley is an area close to home for me, having seen firsthand how the greater Springfield area boomed over 20 years I knew Ripley Valley development would be very similar and hence the great potential that was just at an infancy for the only Ripley Town Centre Pharmacy. Hence why I wanted this transaction to be one of my final sales before completely retiring.

The pharmacy is now a Chempro Chemist and in good hands, managing partner Steven Chang (pictured with me) with support of senior Chempro partners are very excited about this acquisition and what the next 5, 10, 15, 20 years of growth will bring. This is Steven’s first pharmacy as an owner/partner which highlights the great opportunities for young pharmacists to break into ownership as a working managing partner. I know the hard work that Steven puts in will be rewarding for decades to come.

Ken Lai Pharmacy
Sold & Settled 1st April

Some sales are just more special for different reasons and Ken Lai is one of those special ones. I have known Ken for over 30 years and first met him when I was selling generics for Alphapharm in the late 1980’s. There was no hesitation in delaying my retirement plans to make sure I stayed the journey to a successful settlement for my friend Ken Lai.

Ken Lai Pharmacy is a destination and very successful business that Ken Lai started 38 years ago. Ken is unique in many ways and from day one prioritised service and caring for the Caboolture community. Ken’s son Wiliam worked alongside his father after completing his pharmacy degree and many customers consider them family.

When Ken publicly announced he was retiring and selling his pharmacy there was an outpouring of well wishes from customers. The Ken Lai Pharmacy page was flooded with hundreds of messages of gratitude and thanks. The local MP Terry Young who has been a customer for 20 years came into the store to present Ken with a plaque for 38 years of service and caring for the local community.

The new owners include first time owner Tushar Panchal who will be the working managing partner, great to see another young pharmacist get their shot at ownership. The new owners are very excited about the acquisition and have plans to convert to a Terry White Chemmart which will continue the legacy of Ken Lai Pharmacy’s heavy focus on providing TruCare to the legions of customers, old and new.

Wishing Ken many happy years in retirement and all the best to Tushar and Peter for the future success of Caboolture Terry White Chemmart.

Toorbul Community Discount Pharmacy — Sold and Settled by Ian Fedrick of AP Group! 🎉
There are often challenges and unforeseen events that can delay settlement, but we never expected a cyclone bearing down on Brisbane to be one of them! Thankfully, there ended up being no issues at Toorbul and the settlement was able to proceed as planned.
We’re thrilled to see young women like Hoda Yegan (pictured with Ian) backing themselves to purchase their first pharmacy. That same week, another young woman, Ankita Patel, purchased her first pharmacy — Aspley Discount Drug Store, another AP Group listing. It’s fitting that these settlements occurred just days after International Women’s Day.
The community of Toorbul and neighbouring Donnybrook, mostly retirees, have truly embraced having a local community pharmacy since it first opened in 2016 by Sri Tripathy. Hoda will be the first owner-operator and is excited to get to know all the locals. She recently completed extended scope of practice training, and with the closest doctor 14 km away, she’ll be able to offer many extra professional services to locals when they can’t get to their GP.
Toorbul Community Pharmacy is a perfect fit for Hoda, and we wish her every success.
This was a team effort, with Matthew from AP Finance working with Hoda to secure her finance and Leo at AP Legal handling the sale for our regular client and vendor, Sri Tripathy.

WARNER DISCOUNT CHEMIST
SOLD & SETTLED 13TH DECEMBER 2024

Nothing like a bit of pressure to complete settlement as our vendor Soham, had flights booked to travel home to India with his family on the 14th December. Pictured with me is Soham Patel and An-Ruo Bian the buyer, all happy or is it relief. Either way it was great working with Soham over an extended period after a sale fell through in late 2023.

This was Soham’s first pharmacy and a Greenfield project he opened in 2018 but had to wait till July 2019 for PBS approval. He put his heart and sole into getting the business up and running, growing as the local community of Warner grew. Having endured the tuff early years and only in his last year got to a profitable position. Family commitments required Soham to move back to India with his family, so the opportunity has now pasted to An-Ruo and his business partner Joe Zhou.

It was about 10 years ago I sold Maroochydore Medical Centre Pharmacy to Joe who has since sold that pharmacy and put his talents and smarts into developing health tech and will be able to add value to Warner straight away.

I do enjoy working with the young pharmacists that are buying their first pharmacy. Leo at AP Legal, who represented Soham was also instrumental in getting it settled on time, and we genuinely wish Soham, An and Joe every success in their new ventures.

NINGI PHARMACY
SOLD & SETTLED 25th OCTOBER

As I am closing in fast on my last pharmacy sold and settled it is a pleasure and privilege to be working with Tom and Sandra Tam who I have known for over 30 years. Over that time, I worked with them as pharmacy buyers, this was the first occasion as sellers.

Ningi Pharmacy was Tom’s baby having owned the pharmacy for 26 years and growing the business from very humble beginnings. What made letting go a little easier for Tom is the new owner, Ting Chang worked at Ningi and for Sandra for the past 10 years.

Delighted I was able to negotiate a deal that both Tom and Ting were happy with and means the pharmacy remains as an independent owner operated community pharmacy. Ting is a hardworking, likeable young man and deserves the opportunity to own his first pharmacy. Ting is not planning to make any big changes in the short term, just continue to deliver the same great service the customers appreciated all these years.

Thank you, Tom, for your service to the Ningi community, not just the only pharmacy but the pharmacy of choice for the growing Ningi community. I know Tom and Sandra want Ting to do well as do the AP Group team. We wish Ting every success as AP Finance were also involved in securing the funding for Ting to purchase the business.

Kingsthorpe Amcal Pharmacy
Sold and Settled 22nd July by Ian Fedrick and Stuart Ellis of AP Group.

Congratulations to Kinjal Patel and Jay Patel on their purchase of Kingsthorpe Amcal Pharmacy. This marks Jay’s entry into pharmacy ownership, and he will be taking on the role of managing partner. Jay has spent the last few years working in Toowoomba, which is how he connected with Kinjal, who has other pharmacy interests in the region. We are excited to see what effect the energy of a young, new owner will have on this single pharmacy, country town.

We would like to thank the Vendor, Steve Hon for entrusting the sale of the pharmacy with us. Steve opened the pharmacy as a greenfield site in 2007 in the local Community Centre which also housed a single doctor an relocated the pharmacy to its current location in the IGA Centre in 2019. We wish Steve all the best as he focuses on his other pharmacies in Queensland and Tasmania.

MOOROOKA AMCAL PHARMACY
Settled on Schedule 17th June

Delighted for Stephen Hughes (seller) and James Elsworthy (buyer) pictured on settlement day. Both guys were excellent to work with and the clear and open communication between the parties allowed the transaction to run smoothly and settle on schedule. (17th June 2024 a day to remember)
When I was appointed to sell Moorooka Amcal Pharmacy, I already knew all the history of the pharmacy and the Moorvale shopping strip. I grew up in nearby Salisbury and my Nana & Pop lived in Moorooka and were loyal customers of Moorooka Pharmacy since the late 1960’s. A relative of the Fedrick family is still a customer of the pharmacy today. Enough of my trip down memory lane and more about Stephen’s time as owner.
Stephen purchased the pharmacy in 2012 from Charles Caris and at that stage it was trading as a Discount Drug Store. In 2020 the pharmacy went through a transformative total re-fit which included the installation of a Rowa Vmax. Stephen had set his pharmacy up for the future direction pharmacy is headed and the switch to Amcal at the same time paid dividends.
The pharmacy is in good shape and passing to an experienced community pharmacy owner operator in James Elsworthy. James is from Townsville and knows the importance of building relationships and taking care of your local community. James does have a vision for the pharmacy, and it will be great to see that evolve over time. Stephen and I wish James nothing but success with his new business.
