5 Signs You’re Actually Ready to Buy a House
Everyone thinks “ready” means a 6-figure deposit. It doesn’t. 💰
Here are 5 signs you’re actually ready to buy your first home in Adelaide:
1️⃣ You’ve got a genuine savings pattern, not just a lump sum. Lenders want to see 3+ months of consistent saving behaviour, not a one-off gift or bonus sitting in your account.
2️⃣ Your income is stable, even if it’s not huge. Same job, same industry, or a clear track record if you’re casual/contract. Stability matters more than the number.
3️⃣ Your debts are under control, not zero. You don’t need to be debt-free, you need manageable repayments and no missed payments or dishonours on your file.
4️⃣ You know your borrowing power before you fall in love with a house. Get a pre-assessment done first. Renting costs are a good comparison point. I can help with this step.
5️⃣ You’re financially ready for the “hidden” costs. Stamp duty (or your exemption), conveyancing, building/pest inspection, LMI if under 20% deposit, not just the deposit itself. Unless you’re a first home buyer.
