A road can connect more than places. It can open access to jobs, markets and essential services.
➡️ In southeastern Tajikistan, the completed Kulyab–Kalaikhumb Road Project is helping provide safer, more reliable year-round movement of people and goods between western Tajikistan and the eastern region of Gorno-Badakhshan.
Our President Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa visited the OPEC Fund-financed project to see its impact firsthand.
With a US$10 million loan from the OPEC Fund, the project reconstructed 58 km of road across two sections of the strategic Kulyab–Kalaikhumb corridor, including four bridges and one tunnel.
For people living in Kulyab, Shurabad and Darvaz districts, the improved connection means better access to jobs, markets and public services, while making it easier to transport local products.
The project strengthens a key transport corridor connecting western Tajikistan, including Dushanbe, with Gorno-Badakhshan and extending toward China, supporting more efficient movement of people and goods and inclusive economic growth. 🇹🇯
