Today is the 1st National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. A day where we commemorate the hundreds of thousands of Indigenous children that were victims of Residential Schools and their families that were impacted by this traumatic upheaval of culture, tradition and identity.
We stand in solidarity with our Indigenous community and promise to continue to learn, listen and stand by them.
In the words of Dave McKay
"Listening to these important conversations, I was reminded that the reconciliation journey requires all of us to be active participants, and that it starts with education, awareness, and, fundamentally, truth. Together, we must continue to have these conversations, and work together with Indigenous communities to build a sustainable, more inclusive future."
