🌩️ After Wednesday’s Hail Storm – Please Read & Stay Alert 🚨
This week’s catastrophic hail event in Wausau and surrounding areas left many homes with damage, and while we focus on cleaning up and getting repairs started, it’s important to be extra cautious over the coming days.
Storms like this often bring in “storm chasers” — out-of-town contractors who go door-to-door offering quick repairs. While some may seem helpful, many are unlicensed, uninsured, or even fraudulent.
👉 Please be cautious and protect yourself:
⚠️ What NOT to do:

❌ Don’t rush into signing any contracts on the spot
❌ Don’t pay cash or large deposits upfront
❌ Don’t trust unsolicited door knockers claiming they “noticed damage”
❌ Don’t let anyone inspect your roof without verifying who they are
❌ Don’t feel pressured by “limited time” or “insurance will cover everything” claims

✅ What you SHOULD do:

✔️ Work with local, reputable, licensed, and insured contractors
✔️ Ask for references and check online reviews
✔️ Contact your trusted insurance advisors to talk through estimates before starting repairs
✔️ Take photos of your damage for documentation
✔️ Get multiple estimates before making a decision

💡 Remember: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

With National Small Business Week here, we wanted to share some key insurance considerations for any small businesses navigating higher costs.

When budgets are tight, it might seem like a good idea to keep coverage lean, but being underinsured can cause devastating consequences. Here are a few risks of not having enough insurance:

Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with everyone in our community impacted by last night’s tornado. We are praying for the safety, healing, and comfort of all those affected, and for strength for first responders and neighbors helping one another through this difficult time. 💙
Important updates and reminders:
• Please stay clear of the impacted area. An evacuation order remains in place. Ringle Fire and local law enforcement are asking people to stay away so utility crews (WPS) and emergency responders can work safely.
• Please hold on physical donations (food, clothing, water). Authorities are not yet equipped to receive or distribute items. Check the official website before bringing anything to the area.
• Shelter information: A Red Cross shelter is open for displaced residents at D.C. Everest Middle School.
