True story
The home price is not the only number that decides your monthly payment. 🏡
Many newer Texas subdivisions sit inside a Municipal Utility District, or MUD, a special district that funds water, sewer, and drainage and collects its own property tax on top of the city, county, and school taxes. The rate varies a lot from one district to the next, and it can add a real chunk to an annual bill.
Sellers in these districts are generally required to give buyers a notice that lists the district's tax rate and other details, so read it closely. Ask your agent or lender to estimate the full tax rate for that exact address, compare it with a similar home outside a district, and check the county appraisal district's website for current numbers. This is general information, not tax or financial advice. 📋
Would you take a lower purchase price if it came with a higher tax rate?
