Storm season is here.

And one of the most stressful questions after a tree lands on your roof is: “Is this covered?”

Hurricane season starts today, and this is your uncomfortable reminder: A storm does not have to hit the coast to wreck a home in Waller, Hempstead, or anywhere else in Texas.

Before there is a named storm in the Gulf, ask yourself:

Do I have flood insurance?
Do I know my wind/hail deductible?
Is my vehicle covered if it floods?
Could I pull up my policy documents today if I had to evacuate?

Most homeowners policies do not cover flood damage, and flood policies usually have a waiting period before they take effect. Do not wait until the weather app scares you!
