People think guardianship only happens to “other families”…
Until a medical crisis happens.
A stroke.
A heart attack.
A cognitive decline.
And suddenly…
The family is in court fighting over decisions, finances, and control.
I recently watched a story about a man who suffered a heart attack, and his sister stepped in to help manage his care. The court questioned her finances, guardianship became involved, and now she’s fighting to regain control while her brother sits in a nursing home.
💡 This is why planning matters.
Because when nothing is legally in place:
👉 the courts decide
👉 strangers can get involved
👉 families get divided
👉 and the emotional & financial damage can be irreversible
Love does not give legal authority.
Paperwork does.
Power of Attorney.
Healthcare Proxy.
Trust planning.
Estate planning.
These aren’t “rich people” conversations anymore.
These are family protection conversations.
The question is not IF life happens.
The question is: Will your family be prepared when it does?
