📅 October 1st is here! 2027 Medicare Advantage and Part D plan information is now available to review.

Plans can change every year, including premiums, benefits, provider networks, and drug coverage. For 2027, some carriers are leaving certain counties (called Plan Exits or Service Area Reductions), while other carriers are expanding into new counties. Plan Exits and Service Area Reductions are specifically effecting us here in Oklahoma for 2027.

✅ What to do now:
• Review your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) from your plan. It explains what is changing for 2027.
• Watch your mail for a notice from your carrier letting you know if your plan will not be available in 2027.
• Mark your calendar: the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 – December 7, 2026. Changes made during this period take effect January 1, 2027.

💊 Big news for people with Medicare: the GLP-1 Bridge Program is here! 💊

Medicare now offers temporary coverage for certain GLP-1 weight-loss medications, Wegovy®, Zepbound® (KwikPen only), and Foundayo™, for a flat $50/month copay.

✅ Who may qualify?

You have Medicare drug coverage (a stand-alone Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage)
The medication is prescribed for weight management
You have a BMI of 35+, OR a BMI of 30+ with certain health conditions (like heart failure or uncontrolled high blood pressure)

📋 How does it work?
Your doctor sends in a prescription and request, Medicare reviews it, and if approved you fill it at a participating pharmacy. Your drug plan doesn't have to "sign up." Medicare runs the program directly.

⚠️ Good to know:

The $50 copay does NOT count toward your Part D deductible or out-of-pocket max
Ozempic® and Mounjaro® are not included (those stay under regular Part D rules for diabetes)
The program runs through December 31, 2027

This is so true! I am always telling all of my clients to be aware! And definitely don’t answer calls from an unknown number! Let it go to voicemail and to call back to the actual business or public service phone number!
