Congratulations to this year’s winners of E.D. Jewett Award Trophy for Outstanding Squadron and the Charles T. Niblett Award (Wingman of the Year) at Davis-Monthan AFB! These high honors are presented by the Military Affairs Committee (MAC) of the Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce, a civilian organization that supports the local military community.

Both awards highlight excellence in mission performance, teamwork, and community involvement within the base.

Colonel E.D. Jewett was a prominent local military and civic leader in Tucson. He served Chairman of MAC and Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce. Reflecting Jewett’s leadership and support of military-civilian relations, his award recognizes organizational action connecting DMAFB with the broader Tucson community.

Colonel Charles Tillman Niblett (1920–2010) was a highly accomplished Air Force officer for 28 years and active Tucson community figure. He fought in World War II and the Korean War before becoming Commander of the Missel Maintenance Squadron at DMAFB. As a member of MAC, he helped develop the Pima Air & Space Museum and the Titan II Missel Museum. Niblett was a dedicated ‘Wingman’ both in combat and at home.

As a former Marine and member of MAC, I was honored to attend the award luncheon this year. Thank you for your service and dedication to our country and community!
