🚨 Heads up, homeowners! We’re seeing a trend in our area and we want to make sure you have the facts. 🏠⚡️

You may have received a letter or even had someone knock on your door saying you might have storm damage from the recent hail and they will reference the specific date of that storm. 🌩️💥

While storms can absolutely cause roof damage that may be covered by your homeowner's insurance policy, please know this is also a common marketing tactic. Some roofing companies go door-to-door and send mailings to drum up business—and their message often sounds like:
📣 “We’ve helped thousands of homeowners get a full insurance-covered roof replacement after storms just like this”

Here are the facts to consider ✅

🔍 Storms in our area have increased—including severe thunderstorms and hail.
✅ Yes, you could have damage from a recent storm.

📝 But the way a roofing contractor inspects vs. how an insurance adjuster inspects can be very different.
🏦 Homeowners insurance is meant to cover damage from a sudden occurrence (like a storm), subject to your policy deductible.

⚠️ The catch: if roof issues are the result of minor damage over multiple storms over several years, that may not meet the definition of a single "occurrence.”

🚦 If you notice damage after a recent storm, proceed with caution: ❌ Don’t sign any contracts on the spot.
⏳ If you plan to file a claim, wait for your adjustor to contact you about what they need from the roofing contractor to substantiate damage. They may ask you to get a second opinion.
📸 Photos help—they can show whether damage looks recent or if oxidization has occurred, indicating older damage.
