🚗 Michigan is a no fault state. That means, you primarily will refer to your own policy to cover your car. Liability coverage and PIP selections are mandatory. However, you have to choose comprehensive, collision, and rental car coverage if you want to protect your vehicle.

🏠 After a storm is the wrong time to find out you have a huge deductible.

With all the recent storm damage in the news, it’s a good reminder to check your homeowners policy. Some policies can have higher percentage deductibles or separate deductibles for wind, hail, or storm damage. Some policies have a flat dollar amount deductible.

When we write homeowners insurance, we try to keep things simple: we generally avoid higher deductibles when possible and try to keep your deductible the same for all covered losses.

Your deductible is one of the most important parts of your coverage—because that’s the amount that comes out of YOUR pocket when something happens.
