Arrested outside Ohio because of an Ohio warrant?

Interstate bail situations can be confusing. The defendant may be dealing with an Ohio warrant while physically being held in another state.

What happens if they miss court?

First, the honest part. A warrant can be issued. And the bond can be forfeited.

But here's what most people don't know: missing court is often FIXABLE — if you
move fast.

Courts know people miss dates for real reasons. The wrong date written down. A
hospital. No ride and no way to get there. Judges have heard all of it.

⏳ When a bond is forfeited, there's usually a window before it becomes final —
time to get in front of the judge and ask to have it set aside.

That window closes.

So if a court date got missed: don't wait, and don't hide. Call the attorney.
Call your bondsman the same day.

We'd far rather help you fix it than collect on it.

You check the jail roster at 3 AM and see two words.

NO BOND.

It's the worst thing to read. And it usually doesn't mean what you think.

âś… USUALLY it means "no bond YET." They haven't seen a judge. Bail simply hasn't
been set. That often changes at arraignment.

⚠️ SOMETIMES it means a hold — a warrant from another county, or a probation
violation. If that's the case, posting bail here won't get them out.

âť— And in the most serious cases, a judge can order someone held without bail.

The difference matters. If there's a hold, we'll tell you that before you spend
a dollar.

Call us with the name and we'll tell you which one you're looking at.
