Calling all grassroots members! Want to help show the true value of American agriculture this Fourth of July?

From June 1–7, the American Farm Bureau is hosting its annual Summer Cookout Survey—and we need your eyes in the grocery aisles!

By tracking the costs of 10-person cookout staples (from burger buns and pork chops to strawberries and ice cream), you’ll help fuel a national July 4th campaign. This campaign highlights how affordable U.S. food remains compared to other goods, and how our farmers secure our nation’s food supply.

Head to ofb.ag/summer-cookout-survey to log prices.

Farm Bureau members are invited to participate June 1-7 in American Farm Bureau’s Summer Cookout Survey of retail food prices commonly used to prepare a cookout meal for 10 people.

“The re-emergence of New World screwworm in the United States after 60 years will have an immediate impact on farmers and ranchers in the affected areas. We are confident that the longstanding coordination between the states and USDA will enable a quick response and hopefully limit the negative impacts and resulting market volatility," said American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall. "It's our job to try to find out-of-the-box ways to reduce pressure on farmland," said Ohio Farm Bureau Director of State Policy Evan Callicoat. "Brownfield remediation is one of them. It doesn't scream agriculture, but it's significant, trying to locate large industrial projects where all the utilities and infrastructure are already there instead of on farmland." When the Make America Healthy Again Commission released its initial report, it raised real concerns across agriculture and what the proposed policies could mean for America’s food system. A year later, the conversation looks much different and farmers now have a seat at the table. On this episode, Kari Barbic of American Farm Bureau joins to discuss the MAHA timeline, how farmers stepped in and what comes next in the MAHA conversation.
