If you've opened a Florida homeowners insurance letter lately, you already know why we're about to say this: there's a lot to be said for a house built to today's code.
New construction in Florida means a roof that hasn't seen a decade of storms yet, windows designed for the weather we actually get, and building standards that have come a long way. For a lot of buyers, that peace of mind is a big part of the appeal, right alongside the whole 'nobody has ever lived here before' thing.
We won't pretend building is the right move for everyone. It's a real decision with real trade-offs. But if the repairs-and-insurance treadmill of an older home is wearing on you, a newer build might be worth a look, and financing one is more doable than most people assume.
