Unexpectedly losing clients to sudden tragedies is a harsh reminder. Do you have estate planning documents like medical directives and power of attorney? These are important for protecting loved ones when the unthinkable happens, ensuring someone can handle affairs if you're incapacitated.

Think estate planning is only for billionaires? Think again!

If you’re over 18, you can benefit from a plan. It doesn’t matter whether you have millions of dollars, a young family, a retirement account, or a child who recently left for college.

In the newest episode of The Retirement Planning Podcast, Jason Fox and I break down why the right documents matter—and how they can protect your family from unnecessary stress, confusion, and lengthy probate delays.

We talk about:

✅ Why powers of attorney become essential at age 18
✅ The difference between a will and a revocable living trust
✅ Why your beneficiary designations may override your will
✅ How an ex-spouse could accidentally inherit your assets
✅ What the $19,000 gifting limit actually means
✅ Three estate-planning steps you can take today

Estate planning isn’t about how wealthy you are. It’s about protecting the people you love and making sure your wishes are followed.

Many people ask:

“Do I have enough money to retire?”

That’s an important question, but it isn’t the only one.

You should also be asking:

*Which accounts should I draw from first?
*When should I claim Social Security?
*Could a withdrawal increase my Medicare premiums?
*Should I consider Roth conversions before required minimum distributions begin?
*How much income can I create without crossing an important tax threshold?
*What happens to the plan if one spouse dies?
*Is my money positioned for both today and 20 years from now?

A retirement plan shouldn’t be a collection of separate decisions.

It should be one coordinated strategy.

Because in retirement, it’s not just how much income you generate that matters.

It’s how much you keep—and how confidently you can use it.

If you’re approaching retirement or already retired, now may be a good time to stress-test your current strategy. A coordinated review can help uncover tax exposure, Medicare concerns, income gaps, and opportunities that may otherwise remain hidden until they become expensive.

Let's talk.

Have you ever noticed that retirement doesn't happen in just one season?

Most retirees experience three very different phases:

✈️ Go-Go Years – Travel, adventure, hobbies, and checking off the bucket list.

🏡 Slow-Go Years – Life slows down, routines become simpler, and spending often decreases.

❤️ No-Go Years – Healthcare and support become a larger part of the budget.

The problem?

Many retirement plans assume you'll spend the same amount every year—and that's simply not how retirement usually works.

In this week's podcast, I explain the "Retirement Smile," why it matters, and how you can position your investments and taxes to match each stage of retirement.

We'll also discuss:
✔ The Bucket Plan Framework
✔ Protecting yourself from market volatility
✔ Planning for future healthcare costs
✔ Smart Roth conversion strategies
✔ Avoiding unnecessary taxes like IRMAA

The better your plan matches the way retirement actually happens, the more confidence you'll have along the way.

Give the episode a listen and let me know which retirement season you're looking forward to most!

Traditional IRAs may create tax issues for you, your spouse, and your heirs. Here’s what high-net-worth families should know about RMDs and inherited IRA rules.

Financial planning reveals retirement spending isn't a flat line. It's a 'retirement smile' curve: higher spending upfront on lifestyle, a dip in later years, and a rise again due to healthcare costs. Understand your spending pattern.
