Mortgage Insiders know: Appraisal reports are changing, but a longer report doesn’t automatically mean there’s a problem.

Beginning November 2nd, 2026, conventional appraisals will include more structured property information. Additions, ADUs, converted spaces and discrepancies with public records may receive a closer look.

For buyers, sellers and real estate agents, the takeaway is simple: share unusual property details early. More information upfront can mean fewer surprises later.

🏗️ New construction opportunity isn’t spread evenly across the country.

Eight of Realtor.com's 10 highest-ranked metros for new construction are in the South, including six in North or South Carolina. Charleston earned the No. 1 position, closely followed by Greenville.

For real estate agents, the takeaway is clear: understanding where builders are active can help clients uncover additional inventory and compare new construction with existing-home options.
