An eventful few days in mortgage lending it has been! The federal reserve cut rates by .5% today! This is the first cut in 4 years and overall positive news for us all moving forward. If you have been in a holding pattern on waiting to purchase a home or you purchased in the last few years and want to refinance, now might be a good time to get started on a loan application (I can help with that!). Now to debunk a few myths as this news spreads life wildfire -

1. This rate cut does not have a direct impact to interest rates on your mortgage. Your mortgage will not be reduced by .5%

2. This rate cut has already been built in to mortgage pricing and current interest rates over the past few weeks. Could we see a more positive impact on rates in the coming days? Perhaps!

3. You may be bombarded with fake news, predatory lenders, and spam saying mortgage rates have dropped substantially today - it is simply not accurate. Make sure to do your due diligence and talk to someone you trust. You could be throwing thousands of your hard-earned dollars out the window with this common bait and switch tactic.
