It’s the week of Halloween, and apparently we got the memo… WEAR BLACK! 🖤

At this point, we’re not sure if we’re dressing for Halloween or mourning what’s left of our sanity after the first couple weeks of Medicare Open Enrollment! 😂 One thing’s for sure… we’re ready to tackle more Medicare reviews, nonstop phone calls, endless paperwork, and the occasional “Wait, Medicare changed WHAT?!” 🤦‍♀️

🍁 Medicare is NOT one size fits all! 🍁

I like to think of Medicare as a program, not just an insurance policy. There are different parts, plans, benefits, costs, and rules to navigate. And what works perfectly for one person may not be the best fit for another!

Why does Medicare have to be so confusing? WHO KNOWS?!
I don't make the rules, but I DO help my clients understand and follow them! 😉

My philosophy has always been simple: Healthcare needs FIRST, extra benefits SECOND!

Your doctors, prescriptions, medical needs, and budget should drive your decisions, not just the latest advertised perks.

Medicare doesn't have to make sense to everyone. That's why I do what I do! ❤️

💡 DID YOU KNOW? Did you know that Medicare Supplement plans are standardized?

💰That means a Plan G is a Plan G, a Plan N is a Plan N, and so on, regardless of which insurance company provides your coverage!

🚗 Think of it like shopping for auto insurance!

Why pay more for the same coverage if another insurance carrier offers it for less?

📢 Here's what many Medicare beneficiaries don't realize!

✅ You're NOT tied to Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period! Medicare Supplement policies do not follow the October 15–December 7 Annual Enrollment Period.

✅ You can review your premiums anytime! You don't have to wait until fall to see whether you're paying more than necessary.

✅ Maine has special consumer protections! If you've maintained qualifying continuous coverage, you can generally change to a Medicare Supplement plan with the same or lesser benefits, even with a different insurance company, without medical underwriting.

✅ No restrictive provider networks! You can generally see any doctor or specialist nationwide who accepts Medicare.

✅ Your coverage doesn't expire annually! Medicare Supplement policies are generally guaranteed renewable as long as you pay your premiums.

❤️ My advice? You may love your current coverage, and that's wonderful! But that doesn't necessarily mean you're getting the best premium.

I’ve already heard from several clients who are impacted and need to explore alternative coverage options for 2027.

Martin’s Point will continue offering Medicare Advantage coverage in every Maine county, but in 2027, many members will need to switch plans FULL STORY ⬇️

🩺 If you’re enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, it’s not just your doctors and hospitals you need to check!

🦽 Durable Medical Equipment (DME) suppliers matter too!

This includes:
🫁 Oxygen equipment
😴 CPAP machines
🦽 Wheelchairs and walkers
🩸 Diabetic testing supplies

⚠️ Before changing your Medicare coverage for 2027, make sure your medical equipment suppliers work with your new plan!

Did you know your doctor can leave a Medicare Advantage network in the middle of the year?

⚠️ Unfortunately, YOU don't have the same flexibility to change plans! A doctor leaving your network generally does not qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period.

✅ With Original Medicare, you generally have the flexibility to see any doctor who accepts Medicare.

❤️ Understanding these differences BEFORE choosing your coverage is so important!

🚨 Medicare Open Enrollment starts today! 🚨

Before you change your Medicare coverage for 2027, here's a friendly reminder!

Healthcare FIRST. Extra benefits SECOND.

Dental, vision, hearing, grocery cards, and OTC allowances are nice benefits, but they should never be the deciding factor when choosing your health insurance.

✅ Are your doctors and hospitals in-network?
✅ Are your prescriptions covered?
✅ Will your treatments or medical equipment require new authorizations?
✅ Do you understand your copays and out-of-pocket costs?

Remember, the goal isn't to chase benefits. It's to make sure your healthcare coverage fits your medical needs AND your budget.

Sometimes the best decision is to keep the coverage you already have!
