What's one financial task you've been putting off since January?

Not the exciting one. The one that's been moving from one to-do list to the next.

Review your beneficiaries. Update your estate documents. Organize important records. Take a fresh look at your budget. Increase your savings by a percentage point or two. These aren't the financial tasks people talk about most, but they're often the ones that matter most.

Time to lock in.

Something to consider as kids are heading back to school: documenting those daycare and camp expenses.

Before those receipts disappear into a drawer, or your email inbox, take a few minutes to document childcare and other summer care expenses. Depending on your situation, daycare, preschool, before- or after-school care, and qualifying summer day camps may be relevant for the Child and Dependent Care Credit.

A few minutes of organization now can save you some digging when tax time rolls around. Save those receipts and make a note to review your potential tax benefits when you start preparing your return.

POV: Your PCS is done, but your budget is still adjusting.

A new duty station means new BAH, different housing costs, and a new cost of living… and potentially a very different monthly budget. Before the new routine sets in, check your numbers and see what changed.

New zip code. New budget. Same financial goals.
