Dinner seminars are one of my favorite ways to walk through Medicare options — relaxed setting, good food, and plenty of time for your questions.
If an evening out isn’t convenient, I also do these same conversations on Zoom so you can join from home.

Hospital stays can leave you with more than just a bill—there are deductibles, travel, time off work, and everyday expenses that Medicare or health insurance often don’t cover.
A hospital indemnity policy pays a fixed cash benefit you can use however you need it. No restrictions. No surprises.

If you’re staying in the hospital, ask this important question:

“Am I officially admitted as an inpatient, or am I under observation?”

Observation usually means you’re considered an outpatient—even if you stay overnight. This can affect your Medicare coverage, out-of-pocket costs and whether your stay counts toward qualifying for skilled nursing facility care.

Ask the hospital to confirm your status and provide it in writing. If your status is changed from inpatient to observation, ask about your appeal rights.

Medicare Advantage coverage rules may vary by plan.

Annuities are often used to help create retirement income—but certain annuity contracts may also offer long-term-care benefits or optional riders.

Depending on the contract, these features may provide additional access to benefits when qualifying care is needed. Availability, benefit amounts, waiting periods and eligible services vary considerably, and accessing benefits may affect the contract’s value or future income. This is exactly why I encourage my Medicare clients to review their coverage every year.

Major insurance carriers have been reducing or eliminating Medicare Advantage plans in certain areas, and we’re already seeing indications that more changes are coming for 2027.

That doesn’t mean everyone needs to change plans — but it DOES mean you shouldn’t assume the plan you have today will look the same next year.

📬 Watch for your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) this fall. It will explain changes to your plan’s premiums, copays, benefits, provider network and prescription drug coverage.

If your plan is changing or leaving your area, don’t panic — you have options.

And if your current plan still works well for you, there may be no reason to make a change at all.

As an Independent Insurance Broker, I work with multiple carriers and can help you understand your options based on your doctors, prescriptions and needs — not just one insurance company.

Many people are surprised to learn that Original Medicare does not cover most long-term custodial care—the ongoing help with bathing, dressing, eating, using the bathroom, or supervision that many people may eventually need.

Medicare Part A may cover a limited period of medically necessary skilled nursing or rehabilitation care after a qualifying inpatient hospital stay. Coverage can last up to 100 days per benefit period, but eligibility requirements apply, days 21–100 have daily coinsurance, and coverage ends when skilled care is no longer medically necessary. Medicare’s skilled-nursing coverage

When care is primarily custodial, you’re generally responsible for the cost unless you have another source of coverage. The 2025 national median nursing-home cost was approximately $114,975 annually for a semi-private room and $129,575 for a private room. CareScout 2025 Cost of Care Survey

As Medicare Open Enrollment approaches, it’s also a good time to review your broader retirement protection. Long-term-care planning is separate from choosing a Medicare plan—but it’s an important gap to consider.

Would you like to schedule a short, no-obligation conversation about your long-term-care options?

You can cut your prescription costs by as much as 80% with a free pharmacy discount card. This is not your Part D plan.

Discount cards are not insurance. They’re free programs from companies like GoodRx or SingleCare. These companies get lower prices from pharmacies and pass the savings to you. No paperwork. No eligibility rules. You don’t even need to be on Medicare. Just show the card or a code on your phone, and the pharmacy charges the lower price.
Here’s how to use one:
Before your next refill, look up a free, trusted card (GoodRx, SingleCare, or WellRx). Check the price online for your exact medicine, dose, and amount at nearby pharmacies. At the counter, ask the pharmacist to compare that cash price with your Part D copay. Take whichever is lower. That’s it.

The “WHY” behind the reason to have a Medicare Broker to review your Part D (or Advantage Plan) during Open Enrollment! Especially THIS YEAR!

Here's the reality. Headlines are saying "Part D is ending in 2027." That's false, and it's about to cause you a lot of unnecessary phone calls.

What's actually happening is much smaller. A temporary subsidy, the Part D Premium Stabilization Demonstration, is sunsetting a year early. It was never permanent. It was introduced in 2024 to soften the blow of the Inflation Reduction Act's $2,000 cap, and it was always scheduled to shrink and disappear by 2027. It's just leaving twelve months sooner than planned.
