Did you buy a home this past year or will you be buying a home in the near future? This one’s for you! 👇

In SLO County, the Assessor’s office can take a while to catch up once you’ve purchased a home. This means your tax bill might be mailed to the prior owner 📬 or might be based on their old assessment. Don’t wait for the mail. Hop on the County Tax Collector’s website - https://services.slocountytax.org/- and enter your address or APN (Assessor’s Parcel Number) to see what’s due. 💻

💡 Have an escrow/impound account? Your lender pays the bill straight to the County for you.

💡 Paying on your own? It’s on you to pay, bill in your mailbox or not!

👀 Watch for the “Supplemental Tax Bill”! If your current bill is based on the prior owner’s assessed value, you’ll likely get one of these later to cover the difference. Heads up: this is the ONE bill your lender WON’T automatically pay from escrow. Pay it yourself, or call your loan servicer and ask if they can pay it from your impound account.
