Most Veterans don’t understand the difference between VA guidelines and Lender Overlays. This is HUGE when it comes to helping a Veteran get approved for a home purchase. If you know a Veteran that got denied due to credit. Comment the word “Overlay” and I’ll help you figure out which one it was.

Sometimes when a mortgage application needs a boost to strengthen the credit profile, we can add alternative tradelines to the credit report to show the borrower has been making on time payments to creditable companies. Having these accounts when the mortgage application is right at the edge of an approval can get you to the finish line.
