SAM LINCOLN
— business owner, farm bureau member, & rural Vermont advocate —

Sam was raised on his family’s dairy farm in Randolph Center and graduated from Vermont Technical College with a degree in Agribusiness Management. Over the past 35 years, his family’s businesses have included agricultural services, cash crop production, timber harvesting, and excavation. His wife, Ashley, and their sons, Matt and John, have all worked alongside him in the family’s enterprises. He served as Governor Scott’s Deputy Commissioner of the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation from 2017 through 2020.

Beginning with his service on the Orange County Farm Bureau board, Sam has spent 20 years engaged in agricultural and forest economy policy at the local, state, and federal levels. He brings the perspective of both a business owner working under public policy and a public official helping shape it.

Our farmers, loggers, foresters and rural businesses do more than shape Vermont’s landscape. They feed our families, steward our working lands, create jobs and keep our communities strong.

Rural Vermont Rising is bringing renewed energy to concerns our farming community has championed for years. This Saturday’s rally is an opportunity to turn that energy into connection—and carry our voices toward the upcoming legislative session.

This year, the Department of Taxes encourages landowners enrolled in the Current Use Program with active agricultural land and farm buildings to use myVTax, Vermont’s secure taxpayer portal, to complete their Agricultural Certification for free.

Using myVTax allows the Department to:
Process your certification faster and avoid postal delays,
Prepopulate some information based on your existing account, and
Securely corresponding with you throughout the process.

Please complete your agricultural certification on myVTax before November 1 at myvtax.vermont.gov. With the recent upgrade to myVTax, the Department will no longer mail pre-filled Agricultural Certifications to landowners.

If you prefer to submit your certification by mail, the CU-313 (Agricultural Certification) form is available on the Vermont Department of Taxes website: https://tax.vermont.gov/property/current-use

If you do not have access to a computer, please contact the Department of Taxes at 802-828-5860 ext. 2 or [email protected] and a blank form will be mailed to you.
