June is National Dairy Month, and there’s no better time to recognize the hardworking dairy farmers who help keep our communities fed, our rural landscapes thriving, and a timeless tradition alive.

While many of us are still asleep, dairy farmers are already hard at work, milking cows, caring for animals, tending crops, fixing equipment, and doing whatever the day demands. There are no weekends, holidays, or snow days when it comes to caring for a herd. It takes dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the land and the animals they steward.

This month, take a moment to thank a dairy farmer for the sacrifices they make and the work they do each and every day. Their efforts often go unseen, but their impact is felt at every breakfast table, school lunch, and family gathering.

So here's a challenge: Raise a glass of milk this June in honor of our dairy farmers. 🥛 Cheers to the men, women, and families who work tirelessly 365 days a year to provide wholesome dairy products and keep agriculture strong.

Happy National Dairy Month! 🐄❤️🥛

Our Northern Field Representative Kate Bosley and Southern Field Representative Eliza Schraver were invited back this year to the Vermont FFA (Future Farmers of American) state convention hosted at St Micheal’s College in Colchester, VT. They presented their Build a Bill workshop which is designed for students to help them understand how a bill is created and the role that Farm Bureau plays at the state house. It’s a fun and interactive activity, where the students play the role of lobbying and testifying groups as well as the House and Senate committees.

❗️❗️ACTION ALERT❗️❗️ Support the Burtt Amendment to S.325 — Exempt On-Farm Events from Act 250

🗣️Vermont Farm Bureau members: Please contact your House Representative today.

This afternoon, the Conference Committee is expected to take up S.325, the Act 250/Act 181 reform bill for third reading. A critical amendment offered by Rep. Burtt of Cabot would extend Vermont's existing Act 250 exemption for accessory on-farm businesses to cover the construction of improvements for educational, recreational, or social events that feature agricultural practices or qualifying farm products, might be facing some changes.

Under current law, accessory on-farm businesses are exempt from Act 250 for storage, sale, preparation, and processing of farm products, but improvements related to hosting events and farm stays are explicitly carved out of that exemption, meaning they trigger Act 250 review. The Burtt amendment closes that gap and treats event-related improvements the same as other accessory on-farm business improvements. This matters for Vermont farms.

Before the Conference Committee takes up S.325 this afternoon. Short messages are most effective. Please share:

· You are a Vermont Farm Bureau member and a constituent.

· On-farm events featuring agricultural practices and farm products are a legitimate and necessary part of modern Vermont agriculture.

· Improvements for these events should be treated the same as other accessory on-farm business improvements already exempt from Act 250.

· You support the Burtt Amendment to S.325. Ask them to oppose any changes to the Burtt amendment.

Thank you for taking a few minutes today. Your voice on the matters.
