On this Memorial Day, I want to honor the memory of my biological grandfather, Duane Frederick Barlow, who died on July 4, 1951, while being held in a POW camp in North Korea during the Korean War. He remains Missing in Action.

Today, I remember not only his sacrifice, but the sacrifice of all those who never made it home. Behind every MIA is a family that continues to hope, remember, and wait — even generations later.
While we honor the fallen today, I also hold onto hope that one day Duane Frederick Barlow, along with so many others still missing, may finally be identified and returned home to the United States for a proper resting place among family and country.

Their service and sacrifice must never be forgotten.
Please take a moment today to remember all those who gave their lives in service to our nation, especially those who are still unaccounted for.
