Amelia Kuhns recently attended an event at the Colorado Department of Corrections connecting with the amazing people who keep our communities safe!

This event was especially meaningful to her because of her personal connection to the corrections and first responder community. Having a background in corrections, and with her immediate family all serving as first responders, she understands firsthand the dedication, sacrifice, and challenges that come with these careers.

It was such a privilege to connect with CDOC employees, share resources, and have conversations about the importance of taking care of yourself—not only physically and mentally, but financially by having a plan that works with your specific career path. It’s an honor to support the people who spend their careers serving and protecting others.

"As soon as you start working, plan for retirement"

That's the best way to ensure a healthy and prosperous retirement. However, many of us were never taught. The reality is, many hard-working people end up without the resources they need later in life and it's not because they didn't make enough or work hard enough. It's simply they didn't know how to put the appropriate plans in place to protect them for the future they were working toward.

This video from Business Insider shares the stories of why many people in their 70's and 80's are still working driving Uber, substitute teaching, and taking part-time jobs just to cover rising costs. Layoffs, market crashes, and having to tap their 401(k)s early all set them back. Their biggest regret? Not planning sooner and not getting professional guidance.
