Ladies and gentlemen, it is with enormous pride that LifeHelp announces Nick Brown's THIRD Ryan C. Amateur Photography Award, an achievement so extraordinary that we're running out of superlatives.

You may recall Nick's first two triumphs, which earned him two highly coveted, one-of-a-kind blue ribbons. Most photographers go their entire careers without receiving even one. Nick now has three, and apparently the world is taking notice.

In what can only be described as an attempt to get ahead of our prestigious awards committee, the folks at Katmai National Park jumped the gun and selected Nick's latest masterpiece, featuring a well-fed bear enjoying a salmon dinner, for their annual Fat Bear calendar.

We appreciate their enthusiasm, but respectfully remind the National Park Service that the Ryan C. Amateur Photography Award remain the industry's gold standard, and we'd appreciate being allowed to make our selections before lesser institutions rush to confer their own honors.

The Soup Days of LifeHelp have commenced; and I, who have long regarded Artisanal Accomplishment as an agreeable but inefficient Diversion, found myself elevated--quite without Merit--to the Rank of Chef.

My Moroccan Chicken and Chickpea Soup was received with a degree of Enthusiasm bordering on civic Disorder. LifeHelpians returned for Seconds, and then for Thirds, until the great Pot stood nearly empty, like a conquered City after Sack.

Several Persons demanded to know my Secret. I was obliged to confess that I had done nothing more remarkable than read the Recipe and obey it to the Letter.

This Discovery has humbled me exceedingly; for I had long supposed Cookery to require Instinct, Delicacy, Experience, and perhaps some hereditary Gift bestowed upon certain Families by Providence. I now find that a Man may acquire considerable Reputation in the Culinary Arts by possessing a Measuring Spoon, a printed Recipe, and sufficient Reading Comprehension to do exactly as he is told.
