As Senior Commercial Account Manager, Kara handles all things commercial, but in a nutshell - Kara makes sure our clients are fully protected and educated. And then she provides all the proof they need to get paid on time.

😊 What is your favorite part about helping Landmark clients?
“I love the relationships I get to develop with my clients and being able to help them navigate their business insurance in a way that doesn’t feel like a chore or a burden. Commercial insurance can be a lot to decipher and to me, our clients happiness is the measure of my success.”

🍴If you could only eat at one local restaurant for the rest of your life, which one are you picking?
“Hands down, it’s Ray’s Shanty in New Church, VA. I would recommend the entire menu.”🍤

Our team had a great time attending the "Chat & Chew" with the Town Commissioners this month at Cropa Station Restaurant. Staying involved and listening to what’s happening locally is always time well spent.

👋 Meet our Landmark team: Emily!
As Customer Service Rep, Emily meets and greets our wonderful clients (over the phone and in our office) and helps out with insureds needs.

A fun fact about Emily is that she loves to be on the racetrack. The picture included in this post is when Emily volunteered at a fundraiser called “Kids for Kids” which raises money for St. Jude. 🏎️

“Assateague Island!”

Heading off to college brings new levels of independence, regardless of what year of college your student is entering into. Before sending your student off for the school year, sit down with your student to go over these key 💲financial💲 basics:

Budgeting 101: Map out monthly income vs. expected expenses so there are no end-of-month surprises.

Credit vs. Debit: Discuss how credit cards work. Emphasize that credit isn't extra cash and that it needs to be paid off in full every month to build good credit.

The Emergency Plan: Define what actually counts as an emergency vs. optional. Agree on how unexpected costs will be handled.

Loan Basics: Ensure they understand their student loan terms, what grants/scholarships cover, and where to track their balance.

Scam Awareness: Remind them to be aware of scams and that college students are frequent targets for phishing and online scams.

A short conversation now sets them up for financial confidence this semester, this school year, and beyond! 💫

“My favorite part about working at Landmark is the family-oriented culture. It truly feels like more than just a work place, it is a team that really truly treats one another like family.”

“Well, being that I am no longer on the Shore and work remotely for Landmark from Sunny South Florida 😊 I would definitely have to say The Red Roost, because that is one of the FIRST places I always go to when I visit home! You can NEVER go wrong with some All-You-Can-Eat Maryland Blue Crabs & some GREAT corn on the cob 😊“
