Roux is a series of dinners, brunches, parties, panels and food-centric experiences with women at the helm held in Portland, Oregon annually in October.

Founded in 2019 and produced by the team at House of Commons.

We are still full from the Roux weekend thanks to all the amazing women, partners and collaborators that showed up to make the weekend possible. We ate well and connected over tomato cake, lumpia, tacos, new roux merch, pumpkin spice, mini totes, colorful cocktails, fine w**e, tarot, secret sauces and way too many takeaway boxes. We are so grateful for those who came out to support the incredible women who make food and drink culture so special. 🥂

We got the fun job of going to Powell's Books and picking out some of our favorite cookbooks (by women obvs) for our Friday Night Kick Off 〰️VIP ticket holders〰️ We still have a few more VIP tickets left for tomorrow if you want to unwrap a mystery cookbook to take home. 📚 Maybe swap with someone in the room if you feel like it!

🍊🍊🍊 October Tastemaker Collaboration is with Alanna Kieffer of Alanna Kieffer , a Marine Science and Sustainable Seafood Educator located on the Oregon Coast. The sandwich features Oregon bay shrimp salad, pickled jimmy nardello peppers, and seaweed furikake on a house baked brioche roll.

Best Friend Smoothies & Coffee is hosting Sasha’s | Bakery Popup in PDX at their SE Gladstone cafe on 10/10 from 9am-1pm and Daphne Kauahi'ilani Jenkins the Butter Mochi Queen from Oahu with her fabulous butter mochi and sourdough goods on 10/11 from 10am-1pm. Don’t forget to also check out their Division Truck at 1121 SE Division Street.

Kate’s Ice Cream - check out the special Caramel Blondie Bar flavor in collaboration with Nowhere Bakery, October 7th - 21st. Available at Friday’s Kick-off party and at all Kate’s Ice Cream Locations.

Marshall's Haute Sauce owner, Sarah Marshall, will be at the Pearl District’s Pearl District Culinary Farmers Market on Sunday, 10/11 at 11am as the Chef in Market cooking a Roux-inspired dish using fresh ingredients with a special focus on women-owned businesses.

Son of Man will be pouring their natural Basque c***r at the Fireside brunch on Sunday 10/11.

A VIP ticket will get you early access to the secret apartment room with your custom tarot pull, a tote with some fun surprises, a mystery cookbook, and w**e tasting from Rubato Wines 🍷 Come pull up a chair and get a little taste of destiny. ✨

Cacio e Pepe Tarot is a 78-card tarot deck that reimagines the traditional tarot entirely through food. Co-created by artist Danielle Mainas, writer Megan Morris and creative powerhouse Lindsey Newton, the deck began with a simple idea: food is a language we already know. Every dish carries memory, symbolism, desire and story, making food an intuitive bridge into the archetypes of the tarot.

So excited to be kicking off the Roux Weekend at PAMANA | FILIPINO AMERICAN EATERY (inside The Hoxton) with owner Geri Leung Bubu Arare.

Geri is the co-owner and creative force behind Pamana, the Filipino-American restaurant she runs with her husband, chef Ethan Leung. Together, they’ve built Pamana around family, food, heritage, and the idea of carrying something forward.

Before Pamana, Geri and Ethan ran the beloved Baon Kainan food cart and are soon growing into their second location in the former Expatriate space!

We’re excited to start the weekend with the people who make Portland’s food community special.
