My health insurance premiums will go up 11.7%.

But I didn’t get sick.

I went to the doctor one time this year.

Why are my rates going up?

Because the cost of everything has gone up.

Same with car insurance.

No, you didn’t have an accident.

But a lot of people did. More than last year.

Fenders cost more. Bumpers cost more. Injuries cost more. Lawsuits cost more.

X = your odds of having a claim
Y = cost of a claim

X can go down but Y goes up, so that affects all of us.

Of late, car insurance has been leveling off. Even decreasing in some places. That’s good news.

But we get calls daily from people wanting it to go in half. I get that they’re trying to cover other rising costs but unless coverage is slashed, cutting the rate in half is impossible.

And any ad that tells you they can do it is a ruse to get you to give up personal information so they can sell it to telemarketers.

We’re here to help and shoot straight about the X and Y of insurance.
