Some of the best businesses start with a leap of faith.

We recently sat down with Josh and Melanie Randall, owners of Gate City Insurance Group, to talk about what it was really like getting started. From leaving a steady job for straight commission, to interviewing for an insurance position while Melanie was in the hospital having their first child, their story is a reminder that building something worthwhile rarely comes easy.

What stood out most to us wasn’t just their story—it was how they treat people.

Insurance can feel overwhelming, but Josh and Melanie have built their business around making it personal. Whether that means sitting down face-to-face, meeting clients in their homes, or simply taking the time to answer every question, they believe helping people understand their options is just as important as the policy itself.

That’s probably why so many of the families they helped years ago are now sending their kids to Gate City Insurance.

🎉 Congratulations to our Blackstone Griddle Raffle Winner! 🎉

A big congratulations to our lucky winner, who stopped by today to pick up his new Blackstone griddle!

The fun didn’t stop there. Dressed in an awesome Evel Knievel outfit, he was on his way to the Cars & Coffee gathering at KeyBank. We decided to stop by and show our support, and there were some fantastic vehicles and great people out enjoying the morning.

A huge thank you to Outer Limits Fun Zone for their incredibly generous donation and support of the Pocatello Senior Center!

Because of their donation and the amazing support from our community, we were able to raise over $1,000. With matching funds and additional contributions, that means more than $2,000 will be donated to benefit our local seniors.

Community partnerships like this make a real difference, and we’re grateful to have businesses like Outer Limits Fun Zone investing back into our community. Thank you for helping us support the seniors who have helped build the place we all call home.

Come check out the Oldies Rod & Custom Car Show at the Outer Limits Fun Zone parking lot and help support the Pocatello Senior Activity Center.

The Senior Activity Center in Pocatello does a lot more than most people realize. From meals and activities to giving seniors a place to connect and stay active, they make a real difference for many people right here in our area.

Gate City Insurance Group is proud to be part of this event, and we're matching donations to the Pocatello Senior Activity Center dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000.

We're excited to be part of the Oldies Rod & Custom Car Show on June 13th!

This event helps support the Pocatello Senior Activity Center, and we'd love to see a great turnout from our community.

Come check out some amazing classic cars, enjoy the food, listen to some great music, and spend a few hours with family and friends.

We'll have a booth set up, so stop by and say hello if you're there. We'll also be donating a Lifetime cooler and a car detailing kit for the raffle.

The Senior Center does a lot of good for people in our community, and we're proud to support them.

Insurance doesn’t always happen behind an office desk. Some days the “office” looks a lot more like backroads, mountain views, and windshield time across Southeast Idaho. 🏔️

Even though Gate City Insurance Group has a local office here in Pocatello, we spend a lot of time traveling to our clients’ homes because many people appreciate the convenience of house calls.
