Your mortgage company said you don’t need flood insurance? That doesn’t necessarily mean you shouldn’t have it.

There’s a difference between not being required to carry flood insurance and not having a flood risk.

Flood Zone X, for example, is considered lower or moderate risk. Not zero risk.

And here’s the part worth paying attention to: Most homeowners insurance policies don’t cover flood damage.

We’re not saying every homeowner needs another policy. But especially living here in Bay County, it’s worth understanding your risk and knowing what coverage would cost before deciding against it.
