The fed funds rate just went up 0.25%. Does that mean longer term rates will go up? Not necessarily. High yield savings accounts and other short term rates should, but the point of increasing the fed funds rate is to hopefully stabilize or even lower longer term rates.

Scaling your advisory business shouldn't mean every client gets the same portfolios. Index funds have their place, but I still believe in doing the research and looking for opportunities to add value beyond a cookie-cutter model.

I don't believe every portfolio should be 100% passive. Diversified ETFs and index funds should be the core for many investors. But when a great stock trades at a reasonable valuation, owning it individually can make sense. Finding those opportunities is part of my job.
