At our leadership sales meeting, a market analyst said something that stuck with me…

He said, “We’re about to see one of the biggest shifts in the workforce—and most people aren’t paying attention.”

Then he started talking about skilled trades.
Not as a fallback…
but as one of the fastest-growing, most in-demand career paths in the country.

Later, I came across this Forbes article, and it reinforced everything he shared:

-Demand is surging as millions of workers retire each year [forbes.com]

-There’s a major talent shortage—creating a seller’s market for skilled workers [forbes.com]

-And many of these roles now offer strong income potential without the burden of a 4-year degree [forbes.com]

It’s a shift we can’t ignore.

We’ve spent decades telling people there’s only one path to success.
The market is now telling a very different story.

Skills are winning.
Demand is rising.
And opportunity is following it.

Sometimes the biggest trends aren’t the loudest ones—
they’re the ones quietly reshaping everything.

The true cost of raising a family—are they protected against inflation?

Raising a family involves more than love and time—it comes with growing financial responsibility, especially as costs continue to rise.

Beyond the obvious expenses, consider how inflation impacts:

💠Childcare and education, where costs tend to rise faster than average
💠Healthcare and daily living expenses that increase year after year
💠Housing, transportation, and activities affected by higher prices
💠Long-term goals like college funding or future financial support, where today’s estimates may not reflect tomorrow’s reality

As inflation affects purchasing power, the cost of supporting your family in the future may be significantly higher than it is today.

If something unexpected happened to you, would those plans still be achievable—not just now, but years from now?

Life insurance death benefit helps ensure that the financial investment you’re making in your family can keep pace with rising costs. Protection today helps safeguard their
opportunities tomorrow.

I had a conversation recently that stuck with me.

Someone told me, “I’ve done everything right… so why does retirement still feel uncertain?”

Then I read this Forbes piece—and it hit the same nerve.

The reality? We’re not heading toward a retirement crisis…
we’re already in it. [forbes.com]

-For many people, working longer isn’t realistic.

-Social Security feels uncertain.

-And the system most of us rely on wasn’t built to carry the weight anymore.

It’s not a knowledge problem.
It’s a reality problem.

That’s why I keep coming back to this:
Retirement isn’t about hoping things work out.

It’s about building a plan that works—even when things don’t.

If you haven’t looked at your strategy lately… now’s the time.

Candidates often ask about stability, growth and whether the work has purpose. Western & Southern’s 2025 Annual Report is out and I’m proud to reinforce that last year was another strong year for our family of companies, with six new financial records.

For me, that strength isn’t just about performance, it creates a workplace where people can grow their careers, lead with purpose, win as a team and be part of a company focused on doing good for others.

💰 AI is no longer a “future trend” in finance—it’s a competitive necessity.

This Forbes piece breaks down how AI is already transforming the finance industry, and the shift is bigger than automation alone:

🔍 Smarter decision-making – AI accelerates data analysis, forecasting, and risk assessment

⚠️ Better risk & fraud detection – Real-time pattern recognition improves accuracy and speed

🤖 Operational efficiency – Routine processes are being streamlined, freeing teams for higher-value work

📊 Human + AI collaboration – The strongest outcomes come when AI enhances (not replaces) human judgment

But the real differentiator isn’t the technology—it’s leadership and ex*****on.

Firms that invest in AI literacy, governance, and ethical use are gaining the edge. Those that don’t risk falling behind as expectations from customers, regulators, and employees continue to rise.

The question for finance leaders isn’t if AI should be adopted—but how intentionally.

How is AI showing up in your organization today?

Financial firms are using AI in a variety of ways to improve operations, enhance the customer experience, mitigate risks and fraud detection.

💡 AI isn’t just eliminating jobs—it’s reshaping them.

A recent Harvard Business Review study analyzing U.S. job postings from 2019–2025 offers some of the clearest evidence yet of how generative AI is changing the labor market:

📉 Roles heavy in structured, repetitive tasks saw a decline in demand

📈 Jobs emphasizing analytical, creative, technical, and judgment-based skills grew significantly

🤝 The biggest opportunity sits in AI-augmented roles, where humans and technology work together

🧠 New skills are emerging fast—AI literacy, tool fluency, and human–AI collaboration are becoming table stakes

The takeaway isn’t “AI vs. people,” but how leaders choose to implement AI:
➡️ Invest in reskilling
➡️ Design roles around augmentation, not replacement
➡️ Prepare teams for continuous learning

Organizations that treat AI as a productivity partner—not just a cost-cutting tool—will be the ones that win the talent and performance race.

Curious how your role or industry fits into this shift? Let’s discuss. 👇

There’s been much speculation (but little evidence) regarding AI’s potential to eliminate jobs and radically alter the labor market in the U.S. and abroad. A new study sheds some early light on how the new technology has impacted the U.S. market: in it, researchers find evidence that generative ...
